7 Shades of Surau HBP

The second project is to make 7 types of drawings where were assigned to draw the Surau HBP near our school. It was my first time getting near to the Surau because I was really afraid as the Surau looks haunted even on the day. By doing this project, I got to know the functions of the Surau before this and now. It is no longer be used and it becomes a landmark as it is a traditional Malay house style and it reminds me of my hometown.

Hatching
Hatching might be something that people think is easy. But trust me, it is hard to hatch especially to make it embossed and look realistic. Doing hatching is very fun because you got to use many pens and look how they differ. I used 0.8 for the darkest part and vice versa. I got a comment about my hatching from Dr Hazril and He said, it would be nicer if I only used one way hatching and not cross hatching as I did here.

Blending
Blending is a very tough technique. It is something that I am very not good at. I used different tools to blend such as my own finger, tissue, cotton pad and cotton bud. It is nicer to use fingers but it will look more messy as your fingers get all around the paper. But one thing for sure that I learnt from this was even though you dont like it, you got to practice and vary your styles. Maybe it is something i do not prefer, but who knows if I'm going to use it in the future.
Marker rendering
Honestly, i never used marker before. Initially, it doesn't look appealing to use markers as a technique in drawing. But if you really know how to control, it will be something that is very cool and unique. we went to a workshop by the seniors and one of them taught us how to marker render. He really is good at it. it has a technique that only certain people can do if they practice. I'm looking forward to use marker after this.
stippling
I LOVE STIPPLING. Some people found it hard and complicated. AND TIME CONSUMING. But the product of stippling will always be appealing to me. I like how the different line weight creates shadows. I am also looking forward to use stippling in any of my artwork or projects

Full color.
Water coloring is hard. It requires practices. I have problem with my brush strokes and blending the colors. To be honest, all of my watercolor artworks are not good. I am a kind of afraid to use vibrant color and will  keep it simple and dull. It is not good as I know water color is important in presentation board. I hope I'm going to work more on it later.
